Only 7 weeks to go but there is still plenty of activities to look forward to before the end of the year. Please make sure you check the calendar that was sent home for any important events happening before the end of the term. In the next 2 weeks we have plenty to look forward to including the swimming carnival next Monday. Please make sure you return your permission forms and your child brings their swimming clothing. The colour fun run will be taking place on the Thursday the 11th of November followed by the annual awards presentation morning on Monday the 11th of November.
S1 has been busy in class focusing on completing assessment before the reporting period begins later in the term. Our focus in English this term has continued to be on the difference between informative and imaginative texts which has helped the students complete their own information reports on a chosen animal. Your child should be able to tell you about which animal they chose and a few facts about them. The students have also been working hard on their spelling and reading routines at least three times a week. Many children’s literacy program suggest revisiting texts at least three times a week to maximise student learning, increase oral reading performance and reading comprehension. Children who are read to at least three times a week by a family member are almost twice as likely to score in the 25% compared to students who are not.
The students have been enjoying their basketball sessions on Thursday afternoons with Coach Tim and are getting a good amount of exercise with some even complaining that they are getting too much exercise!
