Early Years 1
What a wonderful end to the semester it has been in Early Years 1! The children have been bursting with energy and enthusiasm especially during Coach Tim’s sessions in the lead up to Sports Day activities. The children all participated well in a variety of activities including javelin throws, shot-put to running races. In fact, they enjoyed the running races so much that they did this several times. It was heartwarming to see all our little learners give everything a go.
Our visit to the All Abilities Park was another highlight. The climbing frame, flying fox, swings, spinner and slide were all big favourites. The students practised safe and responsible behaviour in the community, staying with the group and listening carefully to teachers. These outings are a great way to reinforce social skills and independence, and our class did an excellent job.
In the classroom, we’ve been diving into our book of the week. The children particularly enjoyed The Enormous Turnip. The children loved acting out the story, creating turnip artwork and MAKING TURNIP SOUP!
We have been focusing on play skills daily including taking turns, using kind words and having safe hands and feet. It has been a joy to see friendships forming and positive social behaviours increasing.
As we look to the term ahead there will be some slight changes to our class. Miss Lynne will continue to ease into retirement by working every Tuesday. Miss Cassie will take on the other days except for Wednesday and Miss Claire our wonderful teacher aide will remain on class full time.
Happy and safe holidays to our prep families,
Miss Cassie, Miss Lynne, Miss Claire, Elena, Eve, Amity, Mathew and Donald.
