DEPUTY NEWS
Hi everyone,
It has been a very busy term 3 and your children have been able to access some wonderful learning opportunities including mathematics and science applied practically through gardening and observing creatures such as meal worms. We have also had students proudly presenting their mathematics and writing work to us in the office and it has been a privilege to be able to give out special stickers and awards for excellent effort and application in these areas.
Term 4 Parent Calendars
Your child will bring home a Term 4 Parent Calendar today. As we all know, Term 4 is an extremely busy time for students and their families with lots of school, sporting and family social commitments. The calendar is designed for each sector in the school: Early Years, Primary Years, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Sectors. Everything that has been pre-planned is included in the calendar, however there may be some additional things that are individual to your child’s particular class that you can add to the calendar if needed. The calendar also outlines the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) rule of the week.

HOLT BOLT
As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program our students are given Ardy tickets for following our school rules:

Every Monday on parade, each Ardy ticket that is earnt goes into large plastic containers. Once the containers are full, the HOLT BOLT will come to Gympie Special School. The students watched a video on parade this week that showed what the HOLT BOLT is and there was a considerable amount of excitement generated. You can watch some of the videos here by clicking on this link: https://theholtbolt.com/videos/.
In hindsight, we perhaps should have used some larger containers…the students have already filled half of the first container in one week!
There is also a half-way prize. Once the first container is full, all of the students will receive an additional ten minutes of playtime.

Have a safe and relaxed spring holiday. We are really looking forward to seeing all of the students back at school on Tuesday the 6th of October.
Kind regards,
Rachael
