What’s been happening?

 Rhythm and drumming has started again, with the focus this term on primary sector. It’s lots of fun, as we use drumming and music games to help us learn about friendships, listening to each other, taking turns and our emotions.

 Also, I’ve changed the day that I am attending Gympie Special School, from Thursdays to now being here on Fridays. This has allowed access to the Performing Arts room, which I use for some of the classes that do the music/drumming program with me.

Upcoming Events

Coming up soon is a camp being run by Scripture Union Qld, for the siblings of special needs students. It looks like a lot of fun. Location is Sunshine Coast – Coolum Beach, with a cost of $15 per child attending. With COVID restrictions, this year the number of campers will be capped at 40. If you would like your child/children to attend, please register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

 “This day camp is for siblings (grade 5 to grade 12) of special needs students. These siblings often have to step up in their family to support their special needs brother or sister to help parents cope with the extra care and work that is necessary with a special need person. We will be creating an opportunity to support and encourage students in their supportive role in their family.”

Parent & Carer Morning Tea 

The last Parent and Carer morning tea for this year will be in Week 5, on Friday, 6 November. Keep an eye out for further details coming soon.

 I’d love to see you there, over good food and tea or coffee, and to carve out some ‘me-time’ for you all before the rush and busyness of the end-of-year madness.
