Early Years 1 News

Half way through Term 2 already.  Our class has been preparing with Coach Tim for Sports Day.  I am so impressed with how well they are picking up the skills of shot put, javelin, hurdles and running between lanes.  These sessions also encompass social skills, particularly taking turns and waiting. 

Our word of the week focus has been working a treat with humour thrown in.  It is nice to see the students using these lessons in other parts of the day.

PODD work and ALS Boards help our communication skills and pointing to symbols in these has improved greatly over the Term. 

To help with communication, we have also focussed on illustrating our selections.  This enhances our writing and understanding of what has been written.  Whole class art work with drawings and pictures also compliments our book of the week.  Feel free to come to our room and have a look at the great work students have done.
