Senior School News
Welcome to Miss Kate! Miss Kate is teaching in the SS1 classroom. We hope your time here at Gympie Special School is enjoyable and rewarding. The whole senior sector look forward to working alongside her and sharing the fun, laughter and hard work.
The seniors have been busy ensuring they have completed all assessment and goal requirements for Semester 1. The senior sector program is based upon achieving QCIA goals. Preparing individual achievement goals is something that the year 10 students and their families will be working towards in terms 3 and 4.
The year 10 parents recently attended a “Future Connections” meeting where we discussed the steps we go through at Gympie Special School to ensure students create a future plan. Using this plan, each student’s individual achievement goals are made. The year 11/12 program is based upon these goals, ensuring students leave school with a managed and smooth transition into their post school lives. An information package will be sent home to those families who were unable to attend.
As part of the semester 1 Senior English and Mathematics units about the Working World, year 11/12 students travelled to the Gympie Town Centre to use public transport, view and critique artworks, talk with community members and investigate, record and compare prices of a variety of items.
Until next time,
