Over the last few weeks, we have been enjoying rhyming texts. The focus has been on how students interact with these books, or what we call the observable behaviours.  Students have been enjoying these rhyming texts and building their awareness of how to react and respond to a text appropriately.  For example, some students might respond to the repetition in the text and predict words or events and some students might anticipate favourite pages and phrases. 

We have been looking at night and day in Science.  Students have been exploring and manipulating a variety of materials to assist in building an understanding that night and day are different and different things happen depending on whether it is night time or day time.  Our outdoor learning activities have incorporated black paper for wet chalk drawing to simulate night time. 

Physical Education has provided opportunities for co-operative and social play. The students have been working on fine and gross motor development through the use of a variety of textured balls.   

In mathematics we have been focussing on positional language in a variety of settings.  The students have had fun in the playground going DOWN the slide, UNDER the fort, ON the swing and IN the sandpit.  You might like to carry on with some of this fun learning at home.
