Last week our girls’ group for Secondary and Senior Secondary girls started. It has been a great time so far, with lunch being enjoyed together, lots of chatter, and art and craft activities. We decorated cut-outs of women with buttons, wool, glitter, and googly eyes last week. We have hung these up in the closed-in verandah outside the ESP room, which is where we meet. This week we continued the fun by making pom-pom creatures, folding origami bookmarks, constructing trees using paint and buttons, and colouring in. As well providing a range of enjoyable activities, girls’ group is an opportunity for students to practise their conversation and social skills, and talk about things that are on their minds. We plan to run girls’ group each Wednesday and Thursday during first break throughout the year.
